Hey, Alex here. I never really introduced myself but for the past couple months I’m the one that’s really picked up tyingknots and breathed a bit of life into it. Anywho, a little about me, I’m engaged to be married to the brother of Andrea, one of the other girls that helps run this blog! Shane and I have been together for almost 3 years and he proposed to me at Tony’s Town Square in Disney World! It was a shock, even though now that I think about it I really could’ve figured it out had I paid just a wee bit more attention. The date is not set yet, it’s very complicated for us. We are long distance at the moment, me in NJ and he in CT. He’s working to buy a house for us. I’m taking care of my mother who is sick with stage 4 breast cancer. It’s such a struggle right now for everything, but there is a bit of light. I already have my wedding gown, which was important for me to get as soon as possible because of my mother’s current condition. The day was beautiful, and I went into the salon (Alfred Angelo) knowing what I wanted. I tried on a few other gowns, but the moment I slid on this Sleeping Beauty gown it felt right. When I saw myself in the mirror I felt beautiful. The moment was so exciting and emotional, when I look at the gown again even in pictures I fall in love all over again. This is my gown. My wedding gown. I’m walking down the aisle to marry my best friend in that gown. I don’t know exactly when, of course I will keep you guys posted if you like, but I know that I will look spectacular on my wedding day.

This whole post was really just me looking at my gown and getting all giddy about it. Wish I could wear it more often!

Sleeping Beauty’s Enchanted Forest Wedding

Shall it be blue or pink? Well, why not both? The main inspiration for this wedding is the lovely color-changing dress sequence at the end (though we all know we prefer the blue). If this Inspiration Board were to be an actual wedding, I would probably have a lit reception where the colors periodically changed from pink to blue throughout the night. The ceremony would be at dawn, of course (because Aurora was named after the dawn).

Great Ideas that Aren’t on the Board

  • When I think of Sleeping Beauty I always think of the thorns surrounding the castle. If I had my way, I would probably incorporate more thorns into the centerpieces, as well as the bouquets
  • An area for guests to write their “Once Upon a Dream”s for the couple
  • Group nap in between dawn ceremony and nighttime reception anyone? =P Just kidding (would still be fun though!)
